What is Chiropractic?
Your spinal column is made up of 24 moveable vertebrae plus the sacrum and the coccyx. It houses the spinal cord through which nerve information is transmitted from the brain to the rest of your body. Every cell in your body, whether located in muscle, skin or an internal organ requires an adequate nerve supply in order to function properly. An interruption in this nerve supply may result in pain, discomfort and loss of function as well as symptoms such as numbness and tingling.
Chiropractic is a straightforward method of adjusting the bones of your body. Chiropractors assess your musculoskeletal system for areas of potential nerve disruption and use quick, dexterous and accurate adjustments at these points with the aim of helping the nervous system to work more efficiently.
Pain, discomfort and poor function can occur for many reasons. Some of the most common are incorrect lifting, car or sporting accidents, falls, stress as well as poor posture.
There are many different chiropractic techniques. Chiropractors who use the McTimoney method use fast, light force adjustments which are generally regarded as comfortable to receive and suitable for all ages.
